Take A Step Back And Trust
Sometimes we just need to take a step back and trust, when God takes things out of your life it is because there is better ahead. Maybe you didn't get the job you wanted, well there's better ahead. Maybe it was a failed friendship, well God is making room for new kingdom friendships. Maybe the person you thought you would marry is no longer in your life, well there is someone better out there who will love and pursue God more than they do you. Sometimes God removes people and things from our life and we continue to make ourselves sick worrying about them and trying to fix them but the reality is we should just take a step back and completely surrender the entire situation to God. Maybe it's someone who used to be a big part of your life and they aren't anymore and maybe they are pursuing a life you want nothing to do with and you want to change that. The truth is it is okay to outgrow things that you thought were forever. Things of this world will always fail us. People will always disappoint us, we can't hyperfixate on someone's potential to be a good person, friend, or partner. Count it as a blessing that God removed them from your life because you did not need to be around someone pursuing that lifestyle. Pray for them, pray that this wouldn't be their story, pray that they would come back to the root of who God is, pray that God would change their heart, pray that they would find their purpose in this life. Notice I said pray and not worry, don't worry about their life, don't worry about their choices, you moved on to bigger and better things (aka God), don't worry about things you have no control over. Luke 12:25-26 says “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?” There is freedom in giving it all to God, if you are wholeheartedly chasing God and desiring nearness to Him all the pieces will fall into place and you won't desire or even miss that person anymore because you simply don't want to live the life they are living. We have to let go of the past and the things of this world so that God can bring better into our lives. We should trust that God knows best and that we are safe with Him in the driver's seat. Exodus 13:17-22 says “When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle. Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for Joseph had made the sons of Israel swear to do this. He said, “God will certainly come to help you. When he does, you must take my bones with you from this place.” The Israelites left Succoth and camped at Etham on the edge of the wilderness. The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. And the Lord did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people.” Sometimes the shortest path isn't the best path, sometimes the path that He leads us down seems long and hard but it's nothing compared to what He is protecting us from. God protects us from the things we cannot see, He sees and hears what we don't. Surround yourself with fellow believers so when you get overwhelmed by the things of this world you can be reminded of His trustworthy plan. In Psalms 32:8 “The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” If God is in control of your life nothing in this world is worthy of your worry. He is so worthy of our surrender and praise. We should rejoice because He is in control, if we were in control a lot could go wrong, so take a step back and trust.
